Oberstaufen/Munich November 2009
We went on a cheese tour/tasting in a town called Steibis in the mountains just outside of Oberstaufen. This gentlemen gave the tour.

Oberstaufen Germany - a beautiful mountain village in the southwest of Germany. Oberstaufen is close to many interesting day trip destinations.

Oberstaufen, Germany - one of the many guest houses in town. The town has a large tourist industry, including skiing. The skiing appears to be moderate in diffuculty, as the steep part of the Alps was another 30 miles to the south.

Oberstaufen, Germany - It was the beginning of the holiday season, and they were putting out the decorations. Their decorations were beautiful - very understated, but elegant.

Wangen, Germany - We visited this town during one of our day trips. The city was first mentioned in 815 under the name "Wangun" in a monastery document. During the late Middle Ages, the city's growth was amplified by its central location at the crossroads between Ravensburg, Lindau, Leutkirch, and Isny and the growing trade through the Alps. Wangen's production and export of manufactured goods, particularly scythes and canvas, gave the city great wealth.
